It was engineered during the Industrial Age, shaped by people like Frederick Taylor who believed that efficiency and obedience were more important than creativity or thought. It was a system built to produce workers, not thinkers.

Over time, we began ranking children by how well they fit a mold. We created the idea of an “average” student and treated it like a goal. But that average student does not exist. Still, we compare every child to that imaginary standard. The result is a system that quietly tells children they are behind or broken simply because they do not match a fictional ideal.

That myth is not just outdated. It is harmful. It distorts how children see themselves and strips away the joy of learning.
